The Vans!

You may ask yourself, what is so special about our vans? Well, our vans are what sets us apart from the other dog walkers. Our vans have been fully converted to ensure safe transportation of your pet.

What does this mean?

Careful planning has gone into ensuring our vans meet and exceed all necessary laws and regulations when it comes to transporting dogs.

The Big Adventure Van!

Adventure Dogs - Van Spinners roof vents

Aside from the dent, the first thing you will notice about our van is that we have x2 Flettner roof vents fitted. This allows for air extraction, which is not only great for removing wet dog odour and condensation but allows for free movement of air. With the bulk head removed from inside the van, any fresh and/or air-conditioned air coming from the cab will also circulate to the rear of the van.

In addition to this, our van is fully insulated using recycled plastic. This means the van is warm in the winter months, but more importantly, cool in the summer months due to the reflective sheeting fitted between the metal interior and insulation. The insulation also dramatically reduces road noise so is great for those noise sensitive dogs as the back of an un-insulated van is fairly loud.

In the event the temperature in the van does increase, we have a Transcool unit on standby. This machine can reduce the ambient air temperature by 40%. A digital thermometer will be on display at all times to monitor the temperature of the van.

Moreover, the rear of the van is fully plastic lined with paw print flooring. This allows for easy cleaning should any accidents happen.

The van was sent to a specialist welding company who specialise in hand building pet transport systems for vehicles. This means that the cages have been specifically built to the dimensions of the van and will not move. In total there are 8 cages in the rear of the van, of which 6 will be used to carry dogs.

There are 4 cages to the rear or the van (x2 up, x2 down system). The bottom cages being for large dogs while the top for smaller dogs. The 4 cages to the rear of the van are fitted with rear escape doors to ensure that should the worst happen and we are involved in a rear impact, your dogs can be safely removed from the van via the internal doors.

The cages are sealed off from each other, meaning that dogs are unable to see one another. Creating less confrontation and allows for happier transportation. All cages are lockable, should the van be left open when dogs are being worked.

The Mini Adventure Van!

The Mini Adventure van has been fitted with a Flattner Low Profile Spinner. This is to help with the air flow through the van, and remove the unwanted odors. It is the same make as the Big Adventure Van’s spinners, but as the van is smaller with less dogs…there is only one.

As Gav, our mini adventure walker, is only a part time dog walker. We needed to make sure that his cage matched our criteria:

  1. First, the dogs we safe. That is always our main priority.
  2. Second, it needs to be a good enough size to accommodate all our mini adventurers.
  3. Third, we could take it out with ease for weekends and Gav’s main job as a DJ.

We found the perfect cage for us. The TransK9 Double Dog Cage. These cages are solid, with lockable front doors, rear emergency access, and as you can see…Fit an average size dog like our girl Sky with ease.

The cage has a removable wall in the centre, between the dogs. This is so if needed, we have the capacity to take a really big dog. However, we have tried the cage with a Greyhound and Great Dane and both have no issues and fit comfortable.
